Cool new amazon feature!

So, amazon.com has a new feature (to me at least, as I do my buying at .co.uk). They tell you which book you are likely to buy after viewing the book you are viewing. I was looking at The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster when the new feature caught my eye. So what do people buy after looking at it?

What do people buy after viewing the pastafarian bible?

The second book on the list seems reasonable, but after that… um…
It seems people interested in pastafarianism are in search of their own preferences in more areas than just religion :-) .

Google ad for scientific theory?

Google ads for I knew people were using google adwords for political activism, but what I saw on slashdot today was new to me: Promoting your scientific theory through google!

The lowest ad:There are no quarks caught my eye with its “there is no spoon”-like title, so at least marketing-wise it seems to work. I’m not convinced by the contents of the site though, the entire site oozes crackpottery.
Thomas S. Kuhn would argue (as in his the structure of scientific revolutions) that I’m just showing typical behaviour for a recent graduate of a respectable academic institution. So perhaps a paradigm shift is near, and my calling Brian DuPraw (author of that site) a crackpot is just the last feeble defense of a scientific dinosaur bound for obsolescence.

Themes!

Due to a lack of time to design my own theme I started experimenting with some themes from Alex King’s wordpress 1.5 theme competition. Better brace yourself :-) .

Pictures!

Great stuff, I added a gallery to my site. Only pictures from two skiing holidays with some of my friends right now, and those are non public. If you think you should see these pictures drop me a note and perhaps I’ll send you a password.

In other news, I’m working on a better (i.e. less generic) look for my site. Don’t hold your breath though, it may take some time.

Hello world!

I’m in the process of transferring my site from static html to a WordPress-type blog. Nice! This will take some time however, so bear with me.

In the mean time, I’d like everybody to know that I graduated! Very Nice!. It all happened on the 24th of january 2005, the worst day of the year according to some people. Makes me wonder what I’ll do the rest of the year that will make my days better than that one.

Since then I started working full-time at Eagle Vision Systems bv. as a vision software engineer, the job I already had for two days a week. On the leisure side of things I spent one week snowboarding in Tignes (France), and one week snowboarding in Konigsleiten (Austria).
