Google ad for scientific theory?
I knew people were using google adwords for political activism, but what I saw on slashdot today was new to me: Promoting your scientific theory through google!
The lowest ad:There are no quarks caught my eye with its “there is no spoon”-like title, so at least marketing-wise it seems to work. I’m not convinced by the contents of the site though, the entire site oozes crackpottery.
Thomas S. Kuhn would argue (as in his the structure of scientific revolutions) that I’m just showing typical behaviour for a recent graduate of a respectable academic institution. So perhaps a paradigm shift is near, and my calling Brian DuPraw (author of that site) a crackpot is just the last feeble defense of a scientific dinosaur bound for obsolescence.

Wow, you really hit the nail on the head. Frankly I only vaguely understand his theory, but I sense he is really onto something.
In fact I do the same thing he does, advertise my theory on plant hormones on Google. See http://www.planthormones.info. I’m just as convinced I’m right, my stuff holds water just like his seems to.
Keep in mind he is paying so you can read his stuff. Most of the time, in this world, the arrangement is the other way around. Pay attention to the spirit of his enterprise evident in the work. Brian is doing a service.
